Norwegian Coldwater prawns (Pandalus borealis)
live in the North Atlantic Ocean, in the deep
cold waters of the Norwegian- and the Barents
Sea.
As a result of the cold, pure and unpolluted
water in these areas, the prawn caught here
has a fresh taste as well as firm meat and natural
red colour. Prawns living in cold waters grow
very slowly, this is one of the main reasons
for the fine texture and fresh colour of the
meat. As a general rule one can say that, the
colder the water is, the better the prawn will
be.
Raw-material is landed from the trawlers directly
at the plant. This is important to avoid adding
unnecessary transport costs to the raw-material
as well as from an environmental point of view.
All our production plants have installed hypermodern
technology to help assure the product is as
clean as possible. Large investments have been
made to make sure the plants are fully prepared
for "tomorrows demands" in terms of
both efficiency as well as quality.
The cooked and peeled prawn is a very delicious
product which is ready for consumption without
any further treatment.
Prawns are a good source of vitamin B12 and
are also rich in the fat-soluble vitamins A,
E and D.
