Today Nergård is one of the biggest Norwegian
exporters of seafood. Located on top of the world,
above the Arctic circle, we deliver quality products
from one of the purest and finest food resources on
the planet.
As one of few companies still family owned, we focus
on maintaining local traditions and communities while
sharing the sea's valuable assets with the rest of
the world. Our "know-how" has been passed
down from generation to generation, and today, our
main task is to make the route from the world's best
fish resources to the consumers as short as possible.
THE TECHNOLOGY
The technology within the fishing industry is ever-changing,
and keeping up-to-date with new technology is very
important. Updated and modern facilities and a continous
effort to adjust to new technology ensures the best
end result.
We have made major investments in white fish vessels,
quota and salmon farm licenses. We are taking care
of quality requirements on board, during landing,
production, processing and transport - all the way
to our customers.
THE HISTORY
The history of Nergård started over 50 years
ago, back in 1950, when Arvid Nergård startet
a fish dock at Lysnes. During the last 50+ years,
Nergård has grown to be a preferred supplier
of seafood both to the national and the international
market.
In 1972 Nergård established a traditional fish
dock in Senjahopen, where the headquarters are located
today. During the 1980s we built a new factory for
the production of salted fish, started producing fillets
and prawns in Senjahopen, and acquired a new trawler.
In 1989 the production of Salmon started and today
we have 9 farming licenses.
Today Nergård has 14 processing plants all
located in Northern Norway. We have 3 large and several
smaller cold stores, 6 ocean going trawlers with 11
fish licenses/ prawn licenses. We employ 500 and have
a total revenue of approx. 150 million euro/ year.
